FAQs
What is 1-2-1 Coaching?
Coaching is a process whereby you are given space to explore a subject of your choice in a non-judgemental environment. You will not be advised, told what to do or counselled. It is likely that you will posed a question and your thought process takes you on your journey. It is a very personal experience. With your permission, you might be gently challenged or offered interventions to explore throughout the week- not so much homework rather an extension of our session. We will explore your successes, goals and values as well as looking at any limiting beliefs and needs that you might have. Any positive behaviours or new habits will be encouraged and recognised within our sessions and then work to incorporate them into everyday life.
Coaching is either done via Zoom or MS Teams and each session is one hour. The cost is $500 for a block (8 sessions)- payable in advance.
What qualities do you have as a Coach?
I have an open and honest approach to coaching with a mix of challenge and support for you to achieve the outcome you want. I approach our coaching relationship in a non- judgemental manner and allow you to lead and set the pace as you see fit. I will attend our Coaching session prepared and ready to listen. I will have found evidence based resources that might be of help to you. You can decide if you want to use them. I will be honest with you- if I don’t know something I will find out- I will not be winging it! I am accredited to the EMCC and adhere to their Code of ethics and Conduct.
Is Group Coaching different to 1-2-1 Coaching?
Building very much on the 1-2-1 approach, Group Coaching focuses on the values and talents of the Group. A thorough needs analysis will be done before commencing and we will work with the findings to inform the way forward. There are a number of approaches and interventions that could be used. A full report will be produced and ownership will belong to you.
What is Positive Psychology?
Positive Psychology is the study of Flourishing at Individual and Community level- whether that be team or society. Positive Psychology examines the Psychology of Wellbeing and flourishing in life. There is a strong evidence base for this branch of Psychology and the interventions and exercises that I use are all robustly evaluated and validated. Positive Psychology is a relatively new branch of Psychology and it is an exciting time to be studying and using the techniques.
Is there a free session?
For 1-2-1 Coaching there is a free ‘discovery session’ where we will have an informal chat about your needs and my expectations and we can decide if we will work well together. There is no compulsion to take Coaching forward if you do not feel that you can work with me. After this we will exchange contracts and arrange a start date.
What do I need to do before each session?
I do not ask that you do anything specific before you attend each session. I do ask that your mindset is such that you are ready and willing to be coached and that if you have done any of the extra interventions that you bring that with you. It could well be that the coaching session is a continuation of the intervention you undertook during the week.
Is there a discount for low paid people?
Absolutely! I believe that coaching is something that everyone should have access to- it is not only for those who can afford it. For those on low income, benefits etc there is a 20% discount. We can discuss this further during the discovery call but please do not be embarrassed to mention it!
What if I need to cancel a session?
I realise that life can often be hectic and sometimes cancelation is the only option, however, Coaching is a dedicated space for your own personal development and it is important that you feel you are able to put yourself first during this time. The short answer is 48 hours but all details will be explained in the contract and terms and conditions and we will be able to go over at your discovery session.
I look forward to working with you.
